Hi, we’re David and Vivian — a Catholic creative couple based in the Bay Area, and the proud faces behind Joy and Hope Studio.

As cradle Catholics, our faith was planted early, but as adults, it grew into a deep and personal devotion. Today, our Catholic identity is at the heart of who we are. It shapes the way we create, love, and serve. We believe God has called us to use our creative gifts to build up the Church and share His beauty with the world.

This desire to share our faith creatively is what led us to build Joy and Hope Studio, where faith meets daily living, to give God the greater glory. So here’s our brand story.

We first began as Joy and Hope Candle Co. in 2020, as a way to carry on a special legacy. David’s dad had a huge heart for others—he founded a charity called Joy and Hope that helped orphans and underprivileged families in Southern Vietnam. His example of faith and generosity continues to inspire us today and to honor him, we want to continue what he started in our own way.

We believe faith can be lived out in the little things—like lighting a candle at the end of a long day, practicing gratitude, or filling our home with reminders of God’s love. 

For us, candles have always been more than just fragrance and light. In our Catholic faith, a candle represents Christ’s presence—the light that never goes out. It’s what we turn to in prayer, in moments of hope, and in times of struggle. That’s what we want our candles to be for you: little reminders of God’s love and light in the everyday.

Now, five years later in 2025, we’re dreaming bigger and rebranding into Joy and Hope Studio. Along with our candles, we’re creating more lifestyle products that can elevate your everyday routines—items that don’t just look and feel good, but also serve as reminders of faith, beauty, and peace woven into daily life.

Our brand reflects what we hope to share with others: the joy of knowing Christ and the hope found in His promises. Through Joy and Hope Studio, we create as a witness to our faith — a faith that is alive, beautiful, and worth celebrating in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments, bringing faith to life in ways that uplift, connect, and evangelize.

And as always, every purchase helps us give back—a portion of profits goes to select charities close to our heart, so together we can keep spreading joy and hope to those who need it most.
